How Much Blog Could a Blog Post Post if a Blog Post Could Post Blog?

What's that sound? It's the sound of a million bloggers posting their satisfaction at the election of Senator Obama. This is one of those posts.

In federal facilities it is customary to display the image of the president. I've always found it an odd practice until tonight. Tonight I would gladly display a photo of our new president elect. Tonight I am encouraged by the decision the country has made. Tonight, for once, I am inclined to believe in hope.

The most telling thing for me was the great number of people who are proclaming patriotism and faith in the country as a result of the election.
It was kind of surprising to watch on television as a number of celebrities and others appeared to be experiencing patriotic/nationalistic feelings for the first time. Which is great imo - everyone should feel ownership of the nation. Something was clearly missing from government for a large portion of the population.

My main fear for Obama, especially with his most recent appointments, is that he'll do exactly what Bush did. Polarize the country and create an equal and opposite backlash in 4-8 years. I want Obama to succeed as much as is possible, but Bush did that whole "I want to be a uniter and not a divider." thing in his win speach much like Obama and then began his appointments of hard right members to the cabinet.

Day 1 had Obama doing the same thing w/ Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff. I also don't like how the Senate Democrats with the most experience are getting pulled out of the Senate and put into the White house in cabniet positions and otherwise. Losing Kerry and Biden - arguably the two most experienced democrats in the senate on foreign policy is going to leave which democrats in the senate in charge of these areas? Remember, it's the senate that ratifies treaties with foreign nations.. and I'm expecting a lot of revision in foreign policy/doctrine in the coming years.

I really don't want to see a right-wing social conservative backlash in 2012. The social conservative minority is not prepared for the future. The whole country moves forward if the right can move away from the social conservative extreme and modernize towards the middle.
